Class D: Knights, though winless in '05, still optimistic

Campano, Schulte tops at ND-BG

Maria Kristina Campano was named valedictorian and Peter Thomas Schulte was named salutatorian of Notre Dame - Bishop Gibbons School, Class of 2006.
Campano is a recipient of the Sister Genevieve McMahon Award for General Excellence. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the winner of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Math and Science Award.
Campano was a varsity member of the basketball team, co-captain of the ND-BG Cross-Country team. She was a recepient of the Brother Clement A. Murphy Scholar-Athlete Award.
Campano was an English as a Second Language mentor at Paige School. She volunteered for several community organizations including St. Clare's Hospital and the Robin's Nest Cat Adoption agency.
She will attend Cornell University to study biology and genetics.
Schulte was honored with the Brother Edward T. Lopez Award for General Excellence. He is a member of the National Honor Society.
Schulte is the 2006 recipient of the Notre Dame - Bishop Gibbons Science Award; the Bausch and Lomb Science Award; and the Holy Cross Book Award. He served on the Peer Leadership team at Our Lady of Grace Church. He was a member of the ND-BG Mock Trial team and performed a leading role in the school's production of West Side Story. Schulte was a recipient of the Paul DeLorenzo Scholar-Athlete Award, was captain of the Cross-Country Team and a member of the track and field team. He will study engineering at Union College.
